Turnover in the Austrian tourism sector increased during the summer season
Turnover and revenue in the Austrian tourism sector have risen this summer compared to the previous year, according to preliminary data, but the prospects for the fall and next winter seasons are overshadowed by the likelihood of the introduction of disease control measures, Wifo Economic Research Institute reported on Tuesday.
From May to September, a month before the end of the summer tourist season, the number of guest check-ins was up 21.0 percent year-on-year and the number of guest nights up 17.9 percent. Revenue in the tourism sector rose by 22.0 percent in nominal terms to 10.2 billion euros and rose by 17.2 percent in real terms. (MTI)
