The economic performance of the euro area increased in March
The composite Purchasing Managers’ Index (BMI), which measures the performance of manufacturing and service industries in the euro area, increased to 50.3 points from 49.2 points in February, exceeding the 49.9 points in the average of analysts’ expectations, the economic research institute S&P Global announced on Thursday.
For the first time since June 2023, the indicator rose above the 50-point level that separates growth from decline in March this year.
The service industry BMI for March, also presented on Thursday, increased to 51.5 points from 50.2 points in February. This sub-indicator crossed the 50-point mark for the first time since last August in February this year.
