Guest traffic increased at The Lake Balaton
This year in January-August 1 million 139 thousand guests spent 3 million 948 thousand guests nights at the Lake Balaton, and the number of guests increased by a total of 40 thousand, while the number of overnight stays increased by 111 thousand, compared to the same period of the previous year – the Central Statistics Office (KSH) announced on its website.
Three-quarters of the guests at the lake were domestic tourists and more than 60 percent of the overnight stays are also connected to them.
The number of guests declined at community accomodiations and campsites, while the hotels near the Lake Balaton registered 39 thousand more guests – mainly due to the growing domestic demand – while the motels and holiday homes registered 13 thousand more guests in this year's first eight months, than in the the same period of 2013.
