The number of guests and guest nights in Gyula also increased
The number of guests and guest nights also increased in Gyula in the first six months of the year – Mayor Ernő Görgényi (Fidesz-KDNP) announced at a press conference on Tuesday.
He explained that by the end of June, more than 94,000 guests spent 241,000 guest nights in the spa town of Békés County, compared to the data of a year earlier, the number of guests increased by 10, and the number of guest nights by 5 percent. He called the visitation of the Várfürdő fluctuating, May-June is 15-20 percent lower than before, but the other months produced very good numbers. The handing over of the children’s water paradise last year brought with it an increase in the number of family guests – the city manager pointed out. He added that the new, four-star wing of the Hunguest Hotel Gyula was handed over, which will stabilize the visitation of the spa in the autumn-winter period, so that the planned number of 580,000 visitors per year will be maintained in his opinion.
Miklós Kun, the managing director of the Gyulai Várfürdő, told MTI that they already have the numbers for the first eight months of the year, according to which more than 415,000 people have bought tickets to the spa so far this year, which is 7.5 percent higher than a year ago, but the it falls somewhat short of the 2019 figure (434.5 thousand entrants), considered the base year before the coronavirus epidemic. According to Miklós Kun, if autumn does not hold “big surprises”, they will end this year with a profit of around five percent, thanks to the increase in the price of entrance tickets.
