Procter & Gamble profit rises
Procter & Gamble Co. said its fiscal third-quarter profit rose nearly 14%, boosted by strength in detergents, razors and baby care products, and tightened its forecast for current year.
The Cincinnati-based P&G, whose brands include Tide
detergent, Olay skin care, and Charmin bathroom tissue, said net income for the
quarter ended March 31 rose to $2.51 billion, or 74 cents a share, from $2.21
billion, or 63 cents a share, in the year-ago period.
Strong results this quarter were driven by the growth of
P&G's leading brands, Gillette synergy benefits and continued cost
discipline.
