Balfi: leadership in the club of thousands
In the first half of 2012, the consumption of high mineral content (1000 mg / l liter or above) mineral waters have increased in Hungary, due to their positive health effects. The consumption increased the most during the heat wave of the summer.
According to the datas of the Hungarian Mineral Water Association and Product Council (MÁSZT), the domestic consumption of bottled water in the second quarter of 2012 was similar to the consumption of the same period of the previous year. The members of the association in the second quarter were bottling 336 million liters of mineral water, spring water and other water. 97.8 percent of the consumption was natural mineral water, 0.9 percent was spring water. The ratio of thermal waters was 0.2 and the ratio of enriched water-based drinks was also 0.2 percent, while the ratio of the flavored waters was 1 percent.
One of the leading brand of the segment is the Balfi mineral water, which has a mineral water content of 1,890 milligrams per liter.
