Retail sales increased in the EU and in the Euro zone
Retail sales grew in the EU and in the Euro zone in March by 0.3 percent, compared to the previous month. Compared to the previous year the increase in the euro zone was 0.9 percent and in the EU as a whole the growth was 1.6 percent – Eurostat, the EU's statistical office reported on Tuesday.
In a monthly comparision, retail sales increased in 13 out of the 22 member states that provided datas, while a decline occurred in nine member states. The highest growth, compared to February (2.8 percent) was measured in Latvia, while in Hungary, the increase was 1 percent. The largest decrease was 1.7 percent compared to February in Portugal.
