An increase in retail sales in the EU
According to the Wednesday statement of Eurostat, the monthly retail sales grew by 0.7 percent in the European Union (EU) in October, after the 1.2 percent decrease of September.
The turnover of food, alcoholicbeverages and tobacco products increased by 0.1 percent in October, the fuel sales by 0.6 percent, while the non-food goods sales by 0.6 percent.
The euro zone’s retail sales grew by 0.4 percent. Among the EU Member States, the increase was the highest in Finland with a monthly growth of 2.7 percent. In Germany and in Great Britain, turnover also increased noticeably by both 1.9 percent. (MTI)
