Burger King sales grow, profits fall in Q2
Burger King has reported a worldwide comparable sales increase of 2.9%, including a 1.9% increase for the US and Canada for Q2 of fiscal 2009.
The results were driven by positive
sales in key international markets including the UK, Spain, Canada
and Central and South America. Revenues were USD634 million for the
quarter, up 3% on the previous year period. Net income fell to USD44
million from USD49 million last year, largely due to a strengthening
dollar. The company added 125 new outlets during the quarter and is
on target to increase net new restaurant count by 350 to 400 this
year.
