In the interest of consumer safety, the operating conditions of entertainment equipment and sports equipment are being checked nationwide. The aim of the inspection is to ensure that equipment operated in aqua, adventure and amusement parks, festivals, children’s camps and outdoor events, as well as equipment in outdoor fitness parks accessible to everyone, comply with the applicable safety and operating regulations – the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) told MTI on Tuesday.

They pointed out that they are examining, among other things, the existence and validity of the required documentation, mandatory markings and warnings, the structural design, stability and operating conditions of the equipment. In order to enforce the legal requirements, the authority may issue warnings, impose obligations, or – in the event of serious deficiencies – prohibit the use of the given device.

According to the experience of previous years, the objection rate was low at aqua, adventure and amusement parks, while the authority revealed more deficiencies at outdoor fitness parks. Last year, employees of government offices under the professional guidance of the NKFH inspected 4,949 devices at 866 locations, of which 704 devices at 152 locations did not comply with the legal requirements for operation.

The aim of this year’s inspection is to further strengthen law-abiding operations, reduce the number of deficiencies discovered, and emphasize prevention. Therefore, one of the most important provisions is that only a certificate of conformity issued by a certification body designated in Hungary based on a technical inspection carried out at the Hungarian operating site can be accepted.

They added that, in order to ensure the safety of children staying at the camps and prevent accidents, the authority considers it justified to conduct market surveillance inspections of entertainment equipment, facilities and sports equipment operated there, in addition to consumer protection inspections.

They also mentioned that the number of Hungarian iron roads (via ferrata) has grown dynamically in the past decade, from a few routes in the past to a national network, which is why they are being re-examined this year. operation.

The goal of the NKFH is to ensure that operators of entertainment facilities fully comply with safety regulations, thus guaranteeing safe recreation for families and those wishing to play sports in the 2026 season as well.

Strengthening law-abiding operating practices is a common interest: a safe environment increases visitor confidence, supports tourism, and contributes to preserving the good reputation of domestic leisure and sports facilities – the authority’s statement reads.
