The distributor has recalled fermented black garlic from the market due to unauthorized pesticide content – the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) told MTI on Wednesday.

According to the information, based on a notification received through the European Union’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), unauthorized pesticide content was detected in a garlic product of Chinese origin during an official inspection. The product also arrived in Hungary through a Dutch importer.

The announcement emphasized that the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority had contacted the affected company, Thaiturizmus Kft.

The company, in cooperation with the NKFH, and keeping the health protection of consumers in mind, immediately took the necessary measures within its own jurisdiction and ensured the recall of the disputed item from consumers. The authority is monitoring the measures taken by the company and the further fate of the recalled products, the statement said.

The statement detailed that the product affected by the recall, Black Fermented Whole Garlic 100 grams, Golden Lion brand, has a best-before date of March 31, 2027. The product originates from China and is distributed in the Netherlands by Asian Food Group B.V.

The authority asks anyone who has purchased the recalled product and still has it in their possession not to consume it.
