NKFH: the distributor recalled jelly sweets containing unauthorized additives
Based on a notification received through the European Union’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), a jelly candy – a straw-shaped candy – originating from Taiwan contains unauthorized additives, and the product has also reached several Hungarian companies in Hungary – the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) told MTI on Wednesday.
It was emphasized that the product’s jelly consistency, shape, physical and chemical properties, and method of consumption pose a choking hazard.
According to the information, the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority contacted the companies concerned, who immediately took the necessary measures within their own jurisdiction and ensured that the affected items were recalled from consumers.
The authority is monitoring the measures taken by the companies and the further fate of the recalled products – destruction and transportation – the statement said.
It is detailed that the JIN JIN brand Jelly Strip XL Assorted product affected by the recall is a 300 gram package containing six individually wrapped sweets.
Imported by Asia Express Food Kilbystraat1, 8263 CJ, Kampen Netherlands, supplied by Jellico Food Co Ltd (Taiwan), item number 664-4.
