NKFH: anchovy paste recalled due to histamine content above the limit
Olaszbolt Kft. has recalled its 60-gram Anchovy Paste (Pasta di acciughe) product from the market due to a histamine content above the limit value – the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) told MTI on Monday.
As reported on the European Union’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), the Italian Zarotti S.p.A. factory, a similar brand name, with a best before date of July 24, 2026 (lot number: 24072026) was found to contain histamine above the limit value.
Some of the product also arrived in Hungary through an Italian wholesaler.
The intake of histamine in large quantities can pose a health risk, especially for people who are sensitive to it. Its consumption may cause allergy-like symptoms, such as redness, itching, headache, sore throat, palpitations or digestive system complaints
– they warned.
The authority asks consumers not to consume the product with the above identification data if they have purchased it.
The authority is monitoring the measures taken by the company and the destruction or removal of the recalled products.
