NKFH: distributor withdraws Golden Lion sesame oil from circulation
The distributor has withdrawn Golden Lion sesame oil from circulation due to the presence of a carcinogen, the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) told MTI on Friday.
According to the information, based on a notification received through the European Union’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), the presence of 3-MCPD, glycidyl esters, and aromatic hydrocarbons of mineral oil origin above the limit value was detected in sesame oil originating from China. The product also arrived in Hungary through a Dutch importer.
The National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority contacted the company concerned, Thaiturizmus Kft.. The company, in cooperation with the NKFH, and with the health protection of consumers in mind, immediately took the necessary measures within its own jurisdiction and ensured the recall of the disputed item from consumers, the statement said.
The authorities are monitoring the measures taken by the company and the further fate of the recalled products, they said.
The announcement states that the best-before date of the recalled 12×1 liter Golden Lion sesame oil is December 11, 2027, batch number 20242529_004, the product is manufactured by Guangzhou Guowei Vegetable Oils & Food Co., Ltd (China) and imported by Asian Food Group B.V. (Netherlands).
In its announcement, the authorities ask that anyone who has purchased and is still in possession of the recalled product with the batch number described above not consume it.
