The parties agreed that avoiding the 54.3 percent toll increase planned for January 1, 2026, was crucial to protecting Hungarian family businesses, which are the backbone of the economy. The carriers are neither able to manage nor pass on such an additional burden – the announcement reads.
Ferenc Lajkó, the Executive Secretary General of NiT Hungary, emphasized that they are not only discussing numbers and tolls, but also the future of thousands of Hungarian family businesses, and their goal is that no carrier should have to bear a burden beyond their capacity.
The focus of the joint work is on protecting the carriers, rationalizing weight restrictions and creating a predictable, medium-term toll strategy. NiT Hungary aims to bring the interests of the legislator and the carriers to a common denominator – the Executive Secretary General added.
