It’s not summer without watermelon
The must-have experience of summer is the consumption of watermelons, which is why this year’s summer seasonal inspections included a sample of melons. It is hoped that the purchase of a delicious watermelon is typically preceded by a careful selection. Nébih wants to make the choice easier for consumers by highlighting some important expectations.
The maturity of the melon can be deduced from some marks even without tasting it. In the case of varieties with striped skin, the ripeness is indicated by the pale butter color that appears with lighter stripes. However, the congo sound mentioned by many can be misleading, as it does not necessarily indicate its ripeness, but can only indicate that the given fruit has a high water content.
It is also important to consider the storage conditions
In the case of melons piled in a large pile, the ones below can be damaged, so they can easily start to deteriorate. Storing melons in the hot sun is also not a favorable and incorrect practice for the preservation of flavors, as the spoilage process becomes even faster in the fruit heated up in the heatwave. It is advisable to buy peeled and cut melons only in places where the seller has the opportunity to wash his hands, the knife and the table are kept clean, and the melon halves are properly packaged (foil). It is worth knowing that melons that have been peeled but not bought cannot be put on the market again.
Round shaped watermelons with striped skin and red insides are still the most popular among domestic consumers
However, it is recommended to try other varieties: the elongated ones, the plain ones, the ones with yellow skin/innards, or even the “seedless” ones, because all of these are also excellent-tasting melon varieties. The summer seasonal inspection supports the greatest possible satisfaction of melon consumers, whose list of inspections this year cannot miss this popular fruit.
