There are not enough bees to pollinate crops in Europe
A new study found that there are not enough bees to pollinate crops in most of the European countries.
The experts believe that due to the spread of biofuels it would require to have a greater number of pollinating insects. The lack of bees is so huge in the Baltic States and in Britain that only the quarter of the required quantity of insects are flying in these countries.
The researchers hope to replace the missing bees with other wild species of insects, such as bumble bee or hoverfly – the BBC news service presented the study, that was published in the Plos One online scientific journal. (MTI)
