Nielsen: food retail sales increased in the first half of the year
The food retail sales in value increased by 6 percent, in volume by 1 percent, between last December and July 2012, compared to the same period of the previous year – Nielsen market research company announced in its latest summary.
The eight monthly turnover of the 90 food-product groups measured continously by Nielsen, achieved about 905 billion HUF. In particular, above the average rise occurred in retail sales of ice cream, coffee, sour cream, margarine and wafer.
The terms of sale, the traditional 200 square meters and smaller businesses kept stable their market share of 27 percent in value. The index of 401 to 2,500 square meters supermarkets and discount stores increased their market share from 33 to 35 percent in an eight-month comparison. The share ratio of more than 2,500 square meters stores is 30 percent.
