NGM: direct flights between Toronto and Budapest will resume
The previously extremely popular direct flight between Budapest and Toronto will resume next June. The return of the air connection with an even higher level of service will be carried out by Air Canada with a wide-body 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, on board of which passengers will be able to choose from three travel classes, announced Minister of National Economy Márton Nagy on his social media page on Wednesday.
The Minister wrote in his Facebook post that the flight will operate between Liszt Ferenc International Airport and Toronto Pearson International Airport between June 6 and October 24, with four flights per week in the summer schedule, with nearly 48,000 seats in both directions.
According to the Minister, the air connection is expected to be of great interest this time as well, since the launch of the direct flight serves an already high demand: currently, nearly 90,000 air passengers travel between the two countries annually.
Providing a simple, convenient and fast alternative to connecting flights, direct flights are expected to further stimulate this demand among leisure travelers (such as the extremely popular river cruise guests departing from Budapest), those traveling to visit relatives and friends, and business travelers.
As he wrote,
Toronto is Air Canada’s largest hub: with 1,500 daily flights, 195 destinations, and home to one of the largest Hungarian diasporas in the world. This flight not only brings convenience to Hungarian travelers, but also brings tens of thousands of tourists to Budapest every year, which means a significant increase in revenue for the economy and tourism
– he added.
