International Gold Medal for Flore Confectionery
Just eight months after launching, Flore Confectionery has achieved a remarkable success on the international stage: the young Hungarian artisan chocolate brand earned both gold and silver medals at the European round of the prestigious International Chocolate Awards. The “Sweet Sushi” white chocolate almond dragée won a gold medal and a special award, while the “Smoke Signals” blond chocolate hazelnut variant secured silver.
The launch of the Flore Confectionery brand was preceded by a two-year development process, resulting in a collection of ten dragée-based chocolates inspired by fine dining. Alongside its distinctive flavor combinations, the brand emphasizes playful and youthful visual identity—bridging the gap between gourmet quality and a modern, design-sensitive audience.
Founder and head pastry chef Flóra Emese Tóth drew on her experience in Michelin-starred restaurants to create chocolates that act as miniature desserts. Each bite blends surprising spice pairings with nostalgic flavor notes. “Sweet Sushi,” for example, features jasmine, matcha, and wasabi-coated Sicilian almonds, while “Smoke Signals” includes smoked garlic and wafer crumble.
This achievement not only marks a significant milestone for Flore Confectionery but also helps elevate the international visibility of Hungary’s artisan confectionery scene. The competition uses a 100-point evaluation system similar to specialty coffee ratings, where scores approaching 90 reflect exceptional quality—an elite category that both awarded Flore products reached.
