In Germany, the increase in wholesale prices slowed sharply in March, the German statistical office, Destatis, announced on Friday.
In March, wholesale prices increased by 2 percent compared to March last year, after an increase of 8.9 percent in February. Analysts had expected a higher growth of 4.4 percent for March.
Compared to the previous month, the growth of wholesale prices accelerated to 0.2 percent from 0.1 percent in February. Last year, wholesale prices were on average 18.8 percent higher than the previous year in Germany. Developments in wholesale prices usually predict consumer prices.
