Retail sales in Germany fell in October
Retail sales in Germany fell month-on-month and growth slowed year-on-year, according to a report by the German statistics office, Destatis, on Friday.
Retail sales fell by 0.3 percent in October compared to September, when they rose by 0.3 percent. Analysts’ average expectations were for a modest 0.1 percent monthly increase for October.
Food sales rose 1.2 percent, non-food retail sales fell 0.7 percent, and online and mail-order sales fell 0.6 percent month-on-month.
Annual growth in retail sales slowed to 0.9 percent from 3.4 percent in September.
