Melon producers are not affected by Auchan's 59 HUF per kilogram prices
Auchan has advertised Melon special action. 59 forints for a kilogram of melon. The President of Melon Association do not afraid of the pricedown effect of the action.
Street vendors are selling a kilogram of melon for 120-150 HUF, while at the majority of supermarket chains, the price is already under 100 HUF. Auchan's 59 HUF price is the lowest in the market.
According to Simonka György, President of the Hungarian Melon Association producers do not interfere with this price, because most traders purchases melon for 35-40 HUF per kilogram. According to his calculations Auchan owns a maximum of one per cent of the whole domestic cover, while two-thirds of the Hungarian production is exported by the farmers – reports Népszabadság.
