Hungarian tourism had a bad year

According to the informations of the Central Statistical Office; during the first half of 2009, 14 percent less than foreign tourists visited Hungary and the number of domestic visitors decreased by 9 percent, compared to the first half of 2008.

During the first half of 2009, 1.32 million foreign guests spent 3.73 million nights at commercial accommodations. The number of  guests decreased by 14, the number of overnight stays by 12 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Decline had occured among the ten most important sending countries: Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Romania, France, the United States, Poland, Spain, except in Austria and the Czech Republic. But there were, however, ten countries which sent more tourists to Hungary than before. They are: Slovakia, Cyprus, Greece, Croatia, Latvia, Luxembourg, China and African countries.
