Unexpected downturn in the retail trade of the euro zone
Instead of the expected growth, the retail sales of the euro zone decreased in August, compared to the previous month. According to Eurostat; a 0.4 percent decrease occurred in the monthly retail sales, after the 0.1 percent increase of July.
In an annual comparision turnover increased by 0.6 percent. According to the survey of Reuters; Analysts expected a monthly 0.2 percent and a 1.4 percent annual growth.
In the whole European Union retail turnover decreased by 0.3 percent in August, compared to the previous month and increased by 0.8 percent compared to the previous year – reports MTI.
