The Samsung and EdisonKids professional jury has selected the top 50 student teams for the 2026 Solutions for Tomorrow Challenge. Hundreds of students in grades 7-12 applied to the program with unique ideas, including a new type of sustainable packaging material and a program to combat loneliness. The Solutions for Tomorrow Challenge is being held for the sixth time with the aim of giving young people the opportunity to develop solutions that will shape their own future on issues affecting their communities and even the entire world. This year’s competition inspired many students in particular, as around 100 teams submitted applications, from which the jury selected the top 50.

Following the international success of the previous finalist team My Hormone, this year’s challenge was launched with extremely high interest. A total of 334 people applied for the program. The students came from 64 schools – including 20 from Budapest – and not only were there new participants, but also a significant proportion of returning institutions: 30 schools had already participated in previous seasons, and 40 students also entered again with a new creative development. The average age of the applicants was 15 years, and the gender distribution was balanced: 217 boys and 187 girls submitted applications.

This year, the Sustainable Solutions topic was the most popular among the advanced participants, with 23 teams in this category competing in the next round of the challenge. 21 teams submitted new ideas in the Future of Health category, while Change through the Power of Sport inspired 6 teams to develop their future-shaping ideas. The submitted entries clearly show that young people are sensitive, conscious and responsible in their approach to the problems affecting them and their communities.

The students combined technological tools and creative thinking to find solutions and develop ideas on topics ranging from health preservation to sustainability to the community-building power of sport. In the most popular category, sustainability, the competitors sought practical answers to pressing global and local issues such as reducing environmentally polluting overpackaging or the mobile use of renewable energy sources. In the Future of Health category, both physical and mental health were in focus: the teams developed preventive solutions to prevent bullying at school and to alleviate loneliness in old age. The students know that movement can be used as a tool for social integration and community building: they aimed to bridge the gaps between generations in sport and to digitally stimulate the motivation of young people. The above examples support the experience of the past years, according to which students are not only aware of the problems affecting our communities, but are also ready to shape our common future with actionable, innovative solutions.

The main goal of the joint call by Samsung and EdisonKids this year was also to encourage young people to think creatively. After selecting the Top 50 teams, participants will have between January 10 and February 13, 2026. they have the opportunity to further develop their ideas, with the help of expert videos, playful teaching materials, tests and tasks. The sixth season will also focus on providing students with effective support to develop their ideas, while teachers will also receive methodological assistance to mentor their teams even more effectively.
