Slovakian tourism affected badly by euro
According to the participants of Slovak tourism and retail, the strong euro discourages the Czech, Polish, Hungarian and Russian tourists. In the first six months of the year retail and tourism declined as well.
During the first half of the year a 10-12 percent drop occured on the retail markets in 2009. The ski resorts reported a 20-30 percent traffic decrease after the winter season.
In the High Tatras, hotels are operating with a 30-40 percent utilization. Even domestic tourists travel to the Polish coasts, or to the Lake Balaton, taking advantage of the strong euro – reports ProfitLine.hu. after the article of Slovakian Új Szó.
