No more ’ten-eggs’ or ’four-apples’?
The latest proposal of the European Parliament would put an end to food distribution based on number of pieces. Instead, the volume of the product would be indicated on the packages within the EU.
This means that cases of 10 eggs and packs of four apples would disappear from the shelves since the weight of these products is not uniform. The measure could mean significant additional expenditures for the foods industries, since each product will need to be measured so that the packages are equal.
