Energy drinks will not be a prohibited product
Contrary to many reports published so far, from the start of school in September 2024, energy drinks will not be a prohibited product in educational institutions – we learn from the announcement of the Hungarian Energy Drink Association.
The decree on the scope of items that cannot be brought into educational institutions does not name energy drinks as a prohibited product, but states that “products that cannot be sold to persons under the age of 18 cannot be brought into educational institutions”.
The draft decree prohibiting the purchase of energy drinks by persons under the age of 18 is currently under the European Union “notification” procedure, the deadline for which is 15.10.2024. Before this date, the decree cannot legally enter into force.
In view of all this, since the purchase of energy drinks is not currently prohibited for those under 18 years of age, energy drinks will not be among the products that cannot be brought into educational institutions when school starts in September.
