There can not be “Prosek” Wine brand if Croatia joins the EU
Croatia can not use the “Prosek” wine name after its accession to the European Union because it is very similar to the Italian “Prosecco” phrase – announced in the local media on Monday referring to the Ministry of Agriculture.
The European Commission has found that the use of the traditional “Prosek” name misleads the consumers because it is strongly reminiscent of the “prosecco” Italian sparkling wine, that is under protection.
According to the decision, after 1 July Croatia cannot distribute the Dalmatian dessert wine on the markets under the “Prosek” name – dalje.com wrote. (MTI)
