Stop for czekish poultry
Auchan stoped buying and selling poultry from Czech Republik for interim time.
Altough its supplier guaranteed, that the transported products are bird flu free, the supermarket chain decided not to buy.
Tests confirmed the H5N1 type of the bird flu virus in
poultry at two farms in the eastern Czech Republic. The virus was found at the
two farms with 71,000 poultry, bringing the number of outbreaks at Czech farms
to four.The Czechs found their first bird flu case, which involved the lethal
H5N1 strain, at a turkey farm in the eastern part of the country in June.
The two farms where disease was reported are within a 3-km
protective zone around another farm where H5N1 had been found.
Until this time more than 70,000 poultry and 800,000 eggs
were destroyed in the Parducike region near to Brno.
