The autumn tax package might bring significant help if the buyer doesn’t pay
According to a bill, domestic companies could reclaim VAT already paid even if a private individual owes to them. Due to the perceived economic slowdown caused by the coronavirus, this would be a huge help to companies.
The practice first changed in 2019, since then, for example, if a painting company does its work as agreed but its client does not pay the invoice, it can already reclaim the VAT paid, thus incurring a loss “only” on the costs incurred during the performance. Thus, between companies, it has been possible for two years to recover VAT on bad debts.
