Hungarian farmers should not be disadvantaged by imported products from third countries
The strict production standards required of European farmers must be extended to agricultural products imported from third countries, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy said at the Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting in Luxembourg on 13 June.
The Minister emphasized that the fight against climate change, the protection of biodiversity and the reduction of pollution are global issues, so it is clear that these challenges can only be addressed effectively at a global level. Therefore, it is not enough just to make European Union agriculture more sustainable, but also for third countries to play their part in joint efforts. Without the rest of the world, the EU alone will not be successful in tackling global environmental challenges and preserving the values of our created world, István Nagy emphasized.
