New food trends appear almost daily in the world of social media, but Americans have always been at the forefront when it comes to culinary curiosities. It is undeniable that the gastronomic tastes of the United States of America are not afraid to play with seemingly incompatible flavors. From April 1st, guests can also taste an unusual, yet much-loved flavor combination in Hungarian McDonald’s restaurants.

Soft drink and ice cream

This specialty dates back more than 150 years, and interestingly, its history is well-known. Not surprisingly, it was born by chance. An entrepreneur selling soft drinks at an exhibition ran out of ice and put ice cream in the glass instead. The drink became a wild success. It became a staple product of restaurants selling locally made drinks, very popular in the first two thirds of the twentieth century. In recent years, it has been experiencing a renaissance among Generation Z, thanks in no small part to McDonald’s idea, which it added to its menu under the name McFloat®. This curiosity can be tasted in Meki® restaurants in Hungary from April 1st with a coupon offer available in the McDonald’s app, and from April 2nd without using the app, for a limited time in two different combinations, with Coca-Cola® or Sprite Zero® soft drinks, and the restaurant chain’s well-known own ice cream.

For those for whom this curiosity alone would not be enough, we have collected a few more combinations from around the world that are worth trying.

Pineapple on pizza

Most of us have already heard of this variation at home, but not surprisingly, it started its journey to conquer the world from the USA. Pineapple or Hawaiian pizza is an extremely controversial thing. There have been heated debates online about this topic for years, but it is still common for groups of friends to argue about it in pizzerias around the world. Some say the dish is a betrayal of Italian cuisine, while others hail it as a staple of fusion cuisine.

Chicken and Maple Syrup Pancakes

The combination of salty and sweet flavors is not unknown in our country, think of the pair of boiled meat and cherry sauce, or the much-loved sugared cottage cheese pancake. Fried chicken and fluffy American pancakes or waffles are popular throughout the USA, but are especially popular in the southern states, of course, eaten with lots of maple syrup. Of course, this is not the only such dish in the United States of America, for example, many people also like the famous PB&J, the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. et.
