Decrease has not stopped

Retail sales continued to fall in July (6.6 percent in volume). According to KSH’s report, the decrease was 2.3 percent smaller than in the previous month. In the first seven months, volume sales in retail fell by 3.7 percent. The domestic retail network and mail order companies generated sales of HUF 4,001 billion, of which HUF 645 billion was realised in June. Food and food type products represented 46 percent of retail sales; the turnover of food stores decreased by 2.9 percent in the first seven months of 2009.
