Chips are not responsible for the salt intake
How is it possible that in Hungary, salt intake is twice twice as much per capita than in the U.S., despite Americans consume 23 times more chips than the Hungarians?
It was revealed that not chips and other salty products are responsible for salt intake but the daily consumed products such as bread and bakery products, meat products, pastas, soups and cheese.
According to OÉTI’s representative nutritional survey (OTÁP2009), the daily salt intake among men is 17.5, among women 12.1 grams in Hungary which is threefold of the recommended value. The annual average of the per capita consumption of chips in Hungary is less than 350 grams, witch is twenty-third part of the American consumption.
From these datas it is clear that in Hungary chips consumption can not be responsible for the salt intake of organization. In Hungary 0.1 percent of the salt intake comes from chips consumption.
