The mineral water market is still strong
Despite the crisis, the Hungarian mineral water market was characterized by stability in the past year. Between May 2008 and June 2009, in value 45 billion HUF were spent on 890 million liters of mineral water that had been sold in retail trade.
According to Nielsen market research company, the average price of mineral water was 50 HUF per liter in last May, the same amount like in the May of 2009. Most of the mineral water were sold in half-litered bottles. The purchasing locations were highly concentrated. Thirty-four percent of the measured traffic volume were in hypermarkets, while 45 percent of the volume was purcased in supermarkets, and especially in discounts.
