Forty-five thousand packs of cigarettes were seized near the Ukrainian border
Thirty-three million forints worth cigarettes were found in the outskirts of Tarpa by finance officers – the press officer of the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) told MTI on Wednesday.
Dávid Zoltán told that the finance officers conducted “green border control” in the outskirts of the forest near Tarpa, when the thermal imager observed a 20-25-member group whose members were carrying boxes on their backs. The smugglers ran away, but left behind a 90 large cartons of 45 thousand Ukrainian cigarettes in a value of 33 million HUF.
The finance officers seized the goods, and a financial investigative proceedings have been instituted in the case. (MTI)
