Tedi presented its revamped store concept at the La Vega shopping center (Madrid), celebrating ten years of presence in Spain. The chain aims to open forty additional stores in the country by May 2026 and sees room for 600 locations in the medium term. The new format will be rolled out to other European countries next year.

International footprint and store model

With more than 320 stores and 2,300 employees, Spain has become Tedi’s second most important market after Germany, Retail Detail reports. Tedi operates in fifteen countries and has more than 3,600 points of sale worldwide. The chain relies on stores ranging from 650 to 1,000 sqm with approximately 15,000 items, ranging from home and decoration items to office supplies, leisure and toys.

Parallel to the growth in the number of stores, Tedi is rolling out a more modern store design in Spain with a sleeker product presentation, without the traditional baskets and self-service tables. The eye-catcher is Osolandia, a themed area for children with toys and sweets in an accessible, visually appealing zone. This format will be gradually introduced in the rest of Europe until 2026.

Pricing policy and logistics plans

Managing Director for Spain, Fernando Strubing Gomes, emphasised that Tedi wants to maintain uniform prices in all countries, despite higher logistics costs due to the distance from Germany. To optimise operations, the company is investigating a regional warehouse for France, Portugal, and Spain.

“The Spanish market still has a long way to go for Tedi. We want to grow sustainably, with a revamped store concept that is tailored to the needs of customers”, Just Retail quotes Strubing as saying.
