Emissions could be reduced by a quarter if they switch to combined freight transport
Emissions can be reduced by seventy per cent for long-haul journeys over 300 kilometres by combined freight transport, i.e. when lorries and trailers are transferred to trains or ships. At the same time, the intermodal transport rate is currently very negligent, only 1.8 percent in Hungary, but in order to meet the climate goals, at least 100,000 truckloads of traffic would have to be diverted from road to rail or water every year.
