Organic production celebrating 25th anniversary
The fourth Eco-tour took place between 13-15. June. Producers of organic products in the South Dunántúl region were visited during this event. Imre Karácsony, organiser of the tour answered our questions. –When did Eco-tours begin and what was their purpose? – This program is divided into 5 year cycles, of which three have been completed: the organisation of organic production, the processing of produce from organic production and the organisation of export. This cycle is devoted to handing over the knowledge we have accumulated. I invite one hundred “ambassadors” who visit ten farms in order to let them see for themselves how organic production works. –What will be your next step? – I intend to continue what I am doing, This is marketing. My plan for the future is to set up a logistic centre for bio products. I want to finish the 4th Eco-tour by showing people where bio products can be bought outside bio-markets. The system is working and it is the duty of our “ambassadors” to participate in our promotional efforts. –How are ambassadors selected? – 80 per cent of them work for us on a permanent basis. They come from the printed and electronic media, or from educational institutions. There are also well known people, celebrities. We are also celebrating the 25th anniversary of the beginning of organic production. We have invited Ferenc Frühwald founder of Biokultúra Egyesület to tell ambassadors about the beginnings.
