Tourism economy improves again after four months
The index value increased by 4 points in the eleventh month of the year and is 6 points higher than the value of a year ago. The TKI index stood at -2 points in November 2024 (interpreted on a scale between -100 and +100), which means that the sector’s players perceived their situation as slightly negative. In accommodation services, it improved by 4 points to +3 points, in catering by 5 points to -7 points, while in other tourism sectors the index decreased by 1 point to -3 points.
The tourism economy improved, while that of all economic sectors deteriorated in November.
After June, the TKI index again exceeded (by 1 point) the service sector economy index measured in the GKI EU economy research (-3 points), and at the same time significantly exceeded the GKI business confidence index representing the national economy average (-11 points). It was also much higher than the indices of industry (-13 points), trade (-21 points) and construction (-20 points).
If we compare the TKI index in November 2024 with the one a year earlier (November 2023), we see an improvement of 6 points. Among the sub-sectors, all three indices increased year-on-year, most notably that of accommodation services. Among the size groups, all indices also increased, most notably those of companies with 3-5 employees. Among the TKI sub-indices, the near-term efficiency index improved significantly and the operating costs index improved slightly, while the other three indices also increased over the past year.
The index of the number of employees in the past three months is -2 points compared to the same period of the previous year, which shows that the demand for labor required in the tourism sector has decreased slightly. For the next three months, we measured +4 points (compared to the same period last year), which means that companies are increasing their stock. The situation has improved by 7 points compared to the previous month.
