BudapestGO has been supporting public transport for four years

BKK’s BudapestGO app celebrates its fourth birthday on February 14. Since its launch in 2022, more than 4 million people have registered with the app, one and a half million people use it actively every month, and nearly 200,000 routes have been created with its help. BudapestGO has been enriched with numerous developments over the past four years. It enables, among other things, real-time flight tracking and traffic information, barrier-free route planning and quick ticket and pass presentation, as well as the use of Google Pay and Apple Pay.

BKK created BudapestGO in 2022 with the aim of making everyday travel planning and ticket purchase possible on a single interface, quickly and conveniently. Over the past four years, the application has been expanded with numerous developments in response to the needs of BKK customers, making it one of the most popular Hungarian developments: it has won the “App of the Year” award twice.

Convenient ticket and pass purchase, smooth travel

The application has had more than 4 million registered users since 2022, one and a half million are actively using it every month, and nearly 200,000 route plans have been created so far. You can now pay with Google Pay and Apple Pay in BudapestGO, and thanks to one of the developments in the application, it has become possible for others to make purchases, and you can also purchase multiple tickets or passes at once with the cart function. Over the years, the application’s digital product range has also been continuously expanded: time-based 30 and 90-minute tickets, a ten-piece collective ticket have become available, and you can now also buy cable car tickets and nostalgia tickets on the platform.

Travel planning has also become increasingly accurate and reliable: flights can now be tracked in real time, traffic changes are displayed immediately, barrier-free vehicles and front-door boarding have also been marked separately. BKK has also made transportation easier for pass users in the application: using the “I’m boarding” button, presenting the pass is faster on front-door flights and in the metro, and the application also allows ticket validation during route planning.

BudapestGO now not only facilitates the everyday use of public transport, but also provides discounts on recreational opportunities in the capital. For example, with a student pass purchased in the app, students can visit the capital’s spas at a discount, students can attend the 2026 Sziget festival at half price, and users can also participate in prize games and receive other discounts.
