Hungarians won four gold medals at Europe’s largest professional competition
Hungarians won four gold medals at Europe’s largest professional competition, the EuroSkills Herning 2025 championship, the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) informed MTI.
According to the document, software developer Kornél Stefán, web developer Olivér Mrakovics, IT system operator duo Tamás Simon-Gergő Téringer and the industry 4.0 duo Sándor Császi-Roland Izsó won gold medals. Among the Hungarian competitors who prepared with the help of MKIK, software developer Kornél Stefán won the title of Best of the Nation with a gold medal and the highest score, 795 points. The Hungarian team collected two more silver and five bronze medals.
This is one of the best Hungarian performances in the history of the competition; it has never happened before that Hungarian youth won an entire professional group, and in 2025 this was IT – they added.
Silver medals were won by hairdresser Lajos Kovács and industrial robotics duo Márk Liszi-Bence János Kápolnás, while bronze medals were won by mechatronics duo Ádám Fürj-Gergő Nagy, florist Henrietta Sutus, car mechanic Bence Tánczos, gardener duo Balázs Ernő-Ádám Kampel and graphic designer Amy Anne Funnell in Herning.
In addition to them, excellence medals were won by painter Gergő Németh, decorative painter, water, gas and heating installer Balázs Vörös, beautician Eszter Hegyi, electrician Péter Losonczi, and cabinetmaker Martin Mihálicz. The team also included carpenter Mátyás Eszlinger (6th place), baker Anna Mária Szőke (9th place), drywall builder Zsolt Balázs Balogh (7th place), waiter Berta Horváth (17th place) and cook Meister Mihály Martin (22nd place) – they added.
The event, which was held for the ninth time, saw 589 competitors from 32 countries compete in 38 professions, including the most modern industries and traditional crafts. Hungary was represented by the WorldSkills Hungary program team organized by MKIK, with a total of twenty-six young competitors competing in twenty-one professions, demonstrating their preparedness and creativity, from car assembly to industrial robotics and software development to hairdressing and flower arranging.
The gold, silver and bronze medals achieved, as well as the awards for excellence, show that Hungarian vocational training and dual training are competitive at the European level and are capable of educating professionals who can become key players in the economy of the future, the statement said.
