The two cattle herds in which the Nébih confirmed the presence of the FMD virus on Wednesday morning also had negative laboratory results on March 11 and 21. The farm in the settlement of Darnózseli has 1,000 cattle, while the farm in Dunakiliti has 2,500 cattle. On April 1, the classic symptoms of the disease were identified in both herds, so the official veterinarians of the government office took samples from the animals in which the Nébih laboratory detected the virus. Dr. Szabolcs Pásztor, the national chief veterinarian, immediately ordered the vaccination of cattle on the farms, so that virus shedding would be minimized until they were eliminated The authority will establish a protection and observation zone among the outbreaks, in which the stricter regulations will come into effect. The epidemiological investigation has been launched. In the process, the official experts will primarily focus on finding contact farms related to the infected farms, but they will also investigate the possible source of the infection.
