Nébih: many deficiencies were found in the inspection of street foods
Of the 185 street food catering establishments investigated across the country, fines were imposed 14 times and the activity of one establishment was restricted; hygiene and traceability problems were the most common – the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) told MTI on Thursday.
The authority indicated that several procedures are still ongoing, the amount of fines imposed so far exceeds HUF 300,000.
According to the statement, during the summer seasonal inspections, the food chain safety inspectors also specially inspected street food catering facilities. In addition to general hygiene and traceability problems, in many cases the employees worked with invalid health booklets or could not even present a medical certificate of their fitness.
Among the shortcomings, Nébih mentioned that all required documents were not kept up-to-date, there was a lack of information on allergens, the extermination of insects and rodents did not prove to be adequate, and a typical error was the lack of specialized storage.
