Nébih: smoothie drink recalled by SIÓ-ECKES Kft.
Due to the presence of a mycotoxin (patulin) produced by molds, SIÓ-ECKES Kft. recalled and withdrew the Sió Smoothie forest red berry mixed fruit product from the market – the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) informed MTI on Friday.
The agency asks customers not to consume the 0.25-liter package produced by Molkerei Gropper GmbH & Co. KG, with a shelf life of May 15, June 6, and July 27, 2024.
Nébih highlighted on its website that the patulin mycotoxin is a cell-damaging and toxic substance, produced primarily by Aspergillus and Penicillium fungi species that contribute to the deterioration of apples. It enters the human body mainly through the consumption of apples and apple products.
