Poultry should be kept indoors throughout the country
The national chief veterinarian has ordered poultry to be kept indoors throughout Hungary in order to further reduce the chance of contact with wild birds and thus the risk of infection of poultry flocks with avian influenza virus – the National Food Chain Safety Authority (Nebih) announced on Wednesday.
The closure, as required by the decision of the Chief Veterinary Officer of 16 January, applies to farms where the animal run-off area is not protected from above and from the side by bird nets of sufficient strength. (MTI)
