Nébih: toxic plastic cutlery sets were delivered to Hungary as well
The Czech authority measured formaldehyde dissolution in excess of the prescribed limit in a three-part plastic cutlery set called “bamboo” originating in China, which arrived through Germany to the European Union’s (EU) market. In addition to Hungary its has been transported to 22 other countries, – according to the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih).
The warning reached Nébih via the European Food and Feed Safety Alert System (RASFF).
According to the relevant regulation, the release limit for formaldehyde is 15 milligrams per kilogram, while 148 milligrams per kilogram and 78.2 milligrams per kilogram were found in the devices tested, which was several times higher than the authorized amount. (MTI)
