Primary aromatic amines (PAA) are organic compounds containing an amino group and an aromatic hydrocarbon group. The simplest primary aromatic amine is phenylamine, also known as aniline. Some representatives of amines are used in the production of plastics and paints.
PAAs can enter food from materials that come into contact with them. Some of the compounds are carcinogenic, and some of them are presumably carcinogenic, however, in the case of several PAA compounds, no concerns regarding carcinogenic effects arose – Nébih explained on its website.
